  • Date: October 28th 2022
  • Duration: 1 session of 2 hours and 45 minutes

Overview: This week, the SKINS Team hosted a 7th Gen Character Design workshop with participants/organizers from the Māoriland Film Festival (MFF). The MFF takes place in the community of Ōtaki, a vibrant seaside town where Māori culture and language thrive, located on New Zealand’s Kāpiti Coast. Hosted by Courtney Montour, some participants were brought to Montreal for new inspiration and to host their own workshops over at Kahnawake.

During the workshop, participants discussed the future imaginary, film and Indigenous character design as it is now. Even more, the SKINS team joined in on the fun to make our own designs alongside the participants, and together came up with a variety of fun characters, ranging from nomadic heroes to powerful deities.
