Machinima Workshops

Skins Machinima Workshop

Machinima (from the words “machine” and “cinema”) is an emerging technique of making movies within virtual worlds or video games. In this workshop, participants learn the basics of the popular on-line world, Second Life, and how it can be used to tell Indigenous stories. They will select a story, make a storyboard, create characters, build sets, record sound, film scenes and then edit them into a short movie.

The ideal duration of this workshop is five days. However, we are able to deliver shorter workshops. Please see below and contact us to discuss.

Prerequisites: None

Duration: 2 hours – 5 days of 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Short introductions to Second Life and/or the avatar experience can be presented within a 2-hour timeframe. In 2 days, participants could create a short machinima based on an pre-existing scene or story. The ideal length is 5 days where participants can take the time to write original scripts based on Indigenous stories, create assets, sounds, film and edit full machinimas.
